How to LOOK like you\’ve spent time on your essay (Due today…)

Hello, everyone! Today we\’re back with some tips, this time, Online school Ones!

So we\’ve all been there. When you just realised that the really long, unnecessary essay you\’ve been casually putting off is suddenly due TODAY and you frantically message the ONLY person in your class who *Actually* might have done it? Haha, Normally I\’m that person people message. But anyway, today I was working on one of my essays and I thought of doing a blog about this.

So welcome to my quick, easy tips for how to LOOK like you\’ve spent longer than you actually did on an essay 🙂 Hope this helps a few of you out!

1) Headings:

The first tip is probably the easiest one, and probably one you already do quite regularly,  but I find it really important! The use of Headings. So simple yet so effective. Here\’s my recent Media Essay as an example:

Essays With heading vs Without heading👇

Why should I use a heading? (See what I did there? haha)
using a larger, underlined heading or subheading for each paragraph makes your essay look a lot more organised, and easier to read and skim through. Below Is my essay but without a heading. As you can see it makes it look more rushed, harder to read and not to mention it looks slightly copied and pasted. Using

This simple trick makes it look like you\’ve spent time organising your work when really you\’ve just added a couple of sentences 2 fonts larger 🙂
2) Spellchecking: (with my musical metaphors…)
Another quick tip! I know, I know. I suppose a lot of you are thinking \”Well I do this stuff anyway\” But Again, good spelling and grammar are a key indicator of how much time and effort you\’ve put into an essay, especially a hand-written one. Luckily, like a lot of us, if you\’re working online, then you can easily spell check your work in a few simple clicks. Taking the time to do this regularly minimises the chance of spelling errors and random letters creeping in, and that makes your writing look a LOT cleaner in the long run. All you musical people out there, think of it as playing a piece without that accidental note. It just makes the musical piece (AND your writing) sound (and look) a lot better.  Plus, fun fact, some GCSE exams award 5% for good SPaG, so it\’s good to work on those skills now!
Using a spellchecker is also good if you have an essay due for your language course, as you can alter the language word spell checks in a few seconds, you\’ll never miss those accents again! So make use of the simple button at the corner of your screen!

3)  The 0.5 larger font size.

Another sneaky tip is the font size. If you\’re REALLY running out of time, or it\’s so late you can\’t keep your eyes open to write another letter, then increasing the font size by this tiny amount can make a big difference. If you don\’t know how to increase your font size, click on the font size box, and type in your desired number, in this case, 0.5 bigger than your original font size. Here\’s the difference below:

👈Font size 12

👈Font size 12.5
As you can see, there is such a slight difference that if you have to write in a specific font size nobody\’s likely to notice, however, it makes your font big enough that overall it takes up more space in the document, not only that but it makes it look like you\’ve written more. Which is always good. I remember this one time someone got praise for writing a lot when they just had larger handwriting than me. So I can safely say it really does work.

4) \’Quickly\’ adding Quality

I\’m sure a lot of you have heard of the phrase \”Quality over Quantity\” or something like \”Slow and steady wins the race\” (Not sure how that applies here, but OK) Which basically means, for something to be good, you need to spend time on it. You need to work on it.  With this tip, that\’s not entirely the case. Basically, with an essay, your teacher is looking for 4 specific things: Information, clarity, effectiveness and Details (I.C.E.D) So if you know how to Add those things QUICKLY and know what information to look for, then you can simply add a couple of sentences and make your essay a WHOLE lot better.
Add: The key Information (The I-)
-Look at the guidelines set by your teacher, if they have set specific things to include for your work.
-Specific dates/Year
-The 5 W\’s (Who, what, when, where, why)
-Background information.
Clarity (The C-)
-Follow all the clarity tips mentioned: Headings, spellchecking and make sure your sentences make sense. This is just a matter of checking over your work.
Effectiveness (The E-)
-This is just a fancy way of saying: Does your essay provide the message you want it too? Does it have all the relevant information? Is it easy to read and understand?
And finally The Details. (The \”D\”-)
This is just a way of quickly improving your essay with a few simple sentences and extra information.
-\”This is a difference/similarity between X & Y\”
(This is a useful one for English work) -\”This would make the reader/audience feel that\”
(This one I use a LOT myself) Feature/Event X is a key part of Y because.

And 5:

A FRIENDLY REMINDER TO DO. YOUR. HOMEWORK ON TIME! 🙂 -the best tip i can give ahah

Tools ALL celebrities have.

 Hey guys!

So this blog came about in a funny way, actually. I was looking to find some ways to grow my own fanbase -So I searched for what tools all celebrities have/use, and, actually, all I found was ADs for companies with services I wasn\’t at the point of using yet -Priced at $199 a year! Or something INSANE like that! All I know is it wasn\’t ANYTHING NEAR what I wanted to find. There was hardly anything useful at all. (Unless you\’re rich…) I don\’t know if there\’s a secret part of GOOGLE to find this stuff, but enough is enough. So I decided to write my own list, sure, It wouldn\’t help Me, but I hope at the very least It helps you that little bit more!

Here\’s MY list on tools I feel all celebrities have/need to know about:

Besides the obvious…

By \”Obvious\” I\’m Talking Social MediaInstagram, Twitter and everyday Social media like that-But everyone knows about them already, so that wouldn\’t be a lot of help. Of course, it\’s super important, and I have Tips on different aspects of social media here on my blog! But for now, these are the not so spoken about ones I personally found really helped.

1) Analytics.

OK, a very simple one to start with, but I feel all celebrities have a grasp over their fan\’s analytics. I know it should be counted with \”The obvious\” But I feel this is such a useful tool that can tell you a lot, like when your fans are active, at what point in a video fans start to lose interest -Honing those skills is so useful to learning and improving your content. So take the time to learn how to find the useful data and it will pay off! Every social media has basic analytics, so I would definitely take the time to have a look at them!

2) Social Media Schedulers.

Tweet deck, later, Hootsuite…Only to name a few! All these have FREE PLANS, which sure, don\’t offer the best of the best, but they\’re so useful to keep fans engaged while freeing up your schedule. You can schedule tweets, Instagram posts (Though some plans have limitations) Then don\’t have to worry about the next uploading day. This tool is simply for Time off. -Personally, I like to post content without a scheduler, but when I KNOW I have a busy week ahead, or won\’t have WIFI (Sob, sob) Then this is a lifesaver -Literally! I would highly recommend getting one of these for situations where you need them. Don\’t forget to interact with your fans, too! People with schedulers often forget to do this, and it\’s essential to. Organisation is a key part of it too!

3) \”Tools to do everything you need.\”

Ok, I feel this is going to need explaining… by this, I mean things like (These are ones I use) Apps/tools to edit PDFs, to remove unwanted pictures of you that come up online, to resize/convert image files. and easy background removal tools. -I have all these starred to my home bar so they\’re easy to find. It\’s so useful to have all these tools at your disposal, what I would do is spend time looking for a way to do whatever you want for very little/Free and find the one that works best and does what you want. These are so useful to improve your quality and speed, which (Like point 2) gives you more free time and also means you can do what you need easily, without expensive software.

4) Verbal Feedback

This is also SO important, what I do is ask my friends what THEY think of my social profiles, and ask them how I can make them better. They\’re so sweet and give me constructed criticism, such as \”Oh, you could condense your highlights\” Which I find so useful! It doesn\’t even have to be verbal, or from your friends, put an Instagram questionnaire on your story and watch the results pour in! 🙂 Verbal feedback is vital for improvement as if you don\’t know what the fans want, how will you ever be better? -Just don\’t do it too often, as we all know how annoying asking the same question OVER and OVER can get 🙂
That\’s it! Hope you enjoy my tips, I know they aren\’t the best, -I\’m still learning myself- But I hope they helped!
Thanks for reading!

The ups and down of YouTube life (part 1) The DOWNSIDES

Hey guys! As we move into a SECOND lockdown here in the UK, I just want to let you know to HANG. IN THERE! I promise, it will NOT be as bad as the first, and I know you\’ll all get through it, I love you all thank you so much for being my amazing supportive fans! ❤

Ok, back to this blog 🙂 So I wanted to share with you the… not so great, parts about being a YouTuber, as for some reason most people seem to think that being able to film yourself and broadcast it to millions of people out there is a luxury, a perfect alternate reality and that really doesn\’t exist. Sure, having an audience at the drop of a hat is amazing, but it\’s not always like that! There are some wonderful parts to being a YouTuber, of course, but there\’s already enough of that out there, about the fame, glitz and glamour. There isn\’t enough of THIS.

I spend hours on a weekly basis filming and editing videos writing, blogs, filming podcasts and things for TV appearances… or even going live on air once in a while! Just trying to get myself noticed and out-there, basically. I\’m not complaining, I mean this IS my CHOICE, after all. I knew it wouldn\’t be easy, and personally, I\’m fine with that!  My life isn\’t glitz and glamour. Especially at times like these. In a 2 week self-isolation along with my year, during a global pandemic.  Sometimes, it\’s more than easy to give up. Like when the path ahead is hardly visible and you begin to question every decision you\’ve EVER made.

Hey, just ask the 11-year-old me -At the point in my life where I had to choose between a whole new future or a secure one- I had the opportunity to go to an Amazing school, but only if I got a scholarship. Was it worth it? To pursue my own dreams by going to this school, leaving everyone I knew from primary behind, and work on something I barely just dug through the surface of and put myself in a really good position for my future? Or go to a place where I\’d have friends from day 1, a good enough future and something to fall back on.

the only downside is I\’d regret it later on, thinking What IF I did that? and never really knowing for sure.

Wow, when you put it like that it seems an almost impossible decision, but I bet you can guess what I chose.

ANNNYWAY, what I\’m saying is Being a youtube is about determination, sacrifices and tough decisions.

But, sorry I do seem to be dragging on a bit this post, aren\’t I?

So I\’ll do it in 2 separate parts! Save you from getting through the rest. So what can I say? Stay tuned for part 2, hopefully, a way more positive blog! 🙂

Tools every YouTuber needs to know about:

Hey, everyone! This blog is inspired by my own experiences with this question.

What tools do I need to succeed as a YouTuber? Are there any websites or useful places to have in your back pocket?

So, believe it or not, I went to google.

Do you know what I found? nothing. Nada. The first thing that came up was a bunch of equipment my bank balance is still unable to afford. It was quaking, I tell you.

So then I asked myself: Do I need this stuff, just to be successful? No. So what was the point in just getting a bunch of random items like fancy cameras and ring lights, to answer a question that many people, and myself, need a good, solid answer too? The answer is not equipment. Is it?

So I decided to rewrite the rulebook, and come up with my own list to this question, and I hope you find that somewhat useful, too.

Number 1) The most important, number 1  tool I always, always use is my YouTube analytics. Believe it or NOT, this tool is a really important one. Sure, it may seem dreary and dull and -who cares- but if you know how to use it, and make it your friend, then it will reward. It shows you when your audience is active, so you know a good day and time to post, it helps you filter your comments, so you can answer comments that have questions in, etc. so it\’s a million times easier to be Active in your youtube community and a bunch of cool features that give you that boost you need to create better content for your fans. They\’re the ones that matter at the end of the day, right?

2) A background remover and thumbnail maker. Thumbnails… They are basically the face of your video. and most people want a pretty face, don\’t they? I\’m sure you\’ve come across videos where the thumbnail is a blurry, phone screen-sized clip from the video, right? Now, Do you want to click on those? Mostly, No. A thumbnail really does help, even if you take the time to choose 1 out of the 3 YouTube recommends to you, it boots the people who want to click on your video. A thumbnail editor and background remover don\’t have to be fancy, there are great FREE tools, like Pixlr X and Pixlr E, and a background remover isn\’t much harder to find! These steps really help improve clickability

3) The YouTube Studio phone app. The phone app is super cool, as it helps you view comments, stats on your latest video, edit and make changes, PLUS show you your analytics, as in-depth as the original studio! For the serious YouTuber, or ones that just want to have this on the go, this free app is a must!

Okie Dokie, I know this has been a loooong blog entry, but I feel like, if I searched for tools every YouTuber needs to succeed… I\’d want something like this to come up. You know? I know they\’re basic, but that\’s the best place to start, honing in on the basics. So good luck! and feel free to share any more tools in the comments below!

Wishing you a lovely Monday,

Things are boring…? create a buzz!

Hey guys! A super quick blog today, as I haven\’t really been active… oops!

But I assure you, I haven\’t forgotten about you! Today\’s blog is what to do when things online get too \”boring\” I\’m pretty sure you know what I mean? When you get that \”Why did I even do this feeling?\” No likes, comments, nothing to post? views dropping? Things slowing down? Yup, THAT kind of boring.

So how to combat it? EASY, just read the title!

Create a BUZZ!

1) changing it up. Change/Remake old and outdated things so they\’re all shiny and new. Think of it like… when someone comes to school with a new haircut. That kind of new. Same person and principles, just something different people WILL notice. Maybe try a new channel art, mix up your playlists, new videos, perhaps even a whole channel makeover!
2) Getting out there! This is a great tip for procrastinators like myself. It can be as simple as simply taking part in an online community, commenting on a couple posts or videos, supporting your friends\’ channels. Just something that will get you seen, and make you feel good in the process, too! Having that energy and will power is really important.
3) Work on your social life! Though with COVID, you can\’t exactly to partying, but staying social is a great way to being noticed -You could send messages to people you might not have talked to in a while, a \”long time to see!\” text. or following Step 2 This will get your phone beeping with at least some messages and responses. Respond to people\’s stories and posts and find new opportunities to keep you busy.
4) Understand the Algorithms. Ok, a technical one here, but understand exactly how your posts are promoted and what makes them stand out to specific social media can really help! For example, posts on Instagram that are saved and shared do better than ones with more likes but with fewer shares and saves. So maybe that\’s the reason your current social media status is…. not the best currently
My biggest tip is to simply: Relax about it! If things aren\’t buzzing, it\’s OK, take a break and just use the time where your social media isn\’t constantly blowing up to simply just live your life… ILR.

Give it a go next time things in your life feel… way too boring! Soon enough your back on track and living a new, shiny social life.
See you soon 🙂

Pleasing everyone.

Ok, so I know a LOT of bloggers have different types of content, like me, for example, Gaming, vlogging, Pokemon, harry potter series, and Max & Harvey…Possibly even more! I\’m into loads of stuff, which seems great…. Until You have that dilemma of pleasing every single person/fan with your content.

There\’s nothing WRONG with posting all those kinds of content because I LOVE every single one of the things mentioned in the list! However, it\’s pretty obvious, and again, there\’s nothing wrong with this, not everyone does. Not everyone is into the exact same things I am. The point is

We\’re all different.
but that\’s where it becomes complicated.

To put it simply, people follow and subscribe to you because of your content. a specific type of content, to be exact. Maybe they\’re into your gaming videos or harry potter series, rather than Max and Harvey or Pokemon. SO, that\’s what makes finding something to post really difficult. Because some people, including myself, are the type of person who wants to please everyone. To keep people happy and to keep followers, I can\’t be the only one who feels a little downhearted when your follower count goes from 410 to 409.  I feel like: I was a 410, why do I need to go backwards? Down? Then I worry every time I post if someone will unfollow me. So I try to please everyone again. -It\’s a vicious cycle.

But the thing is you can\’t please everyone.

If every time I post or upload a photo, or maybe a vlog, or basically every single type of video I love and try get every franchise I like in there all in one go, or even try to mention them all in a single video, that would be exhausting. I\’d just end up hating everything I\’m supposed to \”Like\” -Imagine wearing harry potter clothes, whilst drawing pokemon, talking about Max and Harvey. It\’d be a mess! It suddenly becomes a lot of effort to please everyone, and if I do say so myself, a lot of WASTED effort. It wouldn\’t bring me the happiness YouTube does anymore because I\’d spend my time with this worry of pleasing everyone. Every hate comment would send me into this downward spiral. And I\’d feel useless. Then it happens All over again

Surely I\’m not the only one, here!

But my advice is this: Don\’t worry about pleasing EVERYONE, please yourself first and foremost, Think: Would this make ME happy?  Why do I like this? If so, then that should be good enough for people who truly care about you, and your content. And if that doesn\’t help:

Another thing is to treat every unfollow as what it is. Finding the people who like YOU, just for YOU! If you feel a little down-hearted about the numbers decreasing, (who wouldn\’t?!) Just get into the habit of thinking. \”Hey, That\’s one less person I have to please!\” Even if it doesn\’t get you that follow back, it should keep the fire going to drive you to create the best content for YOU, that everyone who cares will enjoy.

Because at the end of the day. If YOU\’RE not Happy, NOBODY\’S happy!

and Remember, Your content is what you should care about! Just do YOU!

Perfection, and when things just aren\’t.

There are moments in everyone\’s life when everything is good. Going smoothly, too smoothly, in fact, Basically, just Really well. everyone has those moments, the ones, frankly, which are too good to last.

But what happens when you go through a rough patch?

Where things are starting to head downhill, slowly but surely. and All you can do is watch it. Looking back at what was and what it IS. I mean, that\’s off-putting to anyone. The Memories of the little specks of glory, and then turning to face the fading sparks that you feel.

Someone once said: Perfection is this line, this straight line, Our lives constantly go up and down, occasionally hitting this one line, those tiny moments of glory. But we can\’t ever stay there, because before you know it, life moves again.

Pretty deep, huh? But I feel like it\’s true. People say \”Nothing is perfect\”  but I disagree. Perfection is as unique as a fingerprint, if you\’re a gymnast, perfection is preforming and getting a gold medal at the Olympics, if your a YouTuber, like me, it\’s having your content watched and acknowledged by millions. If you a writer, perfection is holding the very first copy of your book in your hands…

Before I go rambling, the last thing I want to say is this.

When things aren\’t perfect, like, you\’ve had a injury, your views aren\’t what they once were, you have writer\’s block.

Look back

Look back at those moments when your life did hit the line, maybe landing a sweet double twist, or knowing that the views are skyrocketing, having written the one gripping passage that you love.

And then look ahead

I don\’t mean at the fading specks. when your life and \”the line\” are parallel, I mean after that time, when the line moves. Because it will (Believe me, if it didn\’t, life would constantly be boring, sure it\’d be \”perfect\” But in a way, it would just be the new normal)

So, do all you can to change the line, and stay strong, because if you truly love something, the downs are balanced out by the ups. Or even exceeded. So, stick with it, and keep going. Even if you are forced to watch those sparks fade.

Because sparks never die 😉

Top 3 Why people might unfollow you

Hey, guys!
Today we\’re talking about followers.

Ok, so first I have to put my hand up to being slightly disheartened when my follower count goes down even by 1 or 2, so that is the point of this mini blog post. WHY people might unfollow you!

The first thing to remember is not to take it to heart, think of it when you unfollow someone, you don\’t mean it out of spite (well, mostly!) You don\’t want to cause any drama, and neither do they. Now, with that in mind, here is a list of reasons why people might unfollow you…

1) Your content isn\’t what they want. it\’s nothing personal at all! Let me put it this way, say you used to be really into sport, so that was your Instagram feed. Someone else sporty follows you for that kind of content, and then you get into some else, say… fashion, the sporty person might unfollow you because they couldn\’t care less about cuts and patterns. You have every right to have your feed the way you want too, but it\’s the same with everything: if you put yourself out there, don\’t expect everyone to like what you\’re doing!

2) Spam we\’ve all had that person who goes on holiday and posts 1,000 photos in a row of their luxury getaway, or posts masses of photos on the daily, first of all. #jealous and secondly, of course, your holiday was amazing, but do we need to see every moment? At 1000 different angles? It just means people have to scroll through every single post before actually getting to something new. And anyway, surely if all you did was take selfies, it couldn\’t have been much of a holiday… the point is, Just be wary of how often you post and don\’t be surprised if your following might decrease with constant spam.

3) Way too many photos of you, ok, another place I put my hand up. I love the odd selfie marathon, but I don\’t go and post them all to Instagram, I pick maybe 3 max that I love and share them, this means that\’s it\’s a win-win, I get likes and sweet comments, and others can scroll past easily, no fuss. So what would happen if I DID post all 100 of my selfies? Well, it would get boring, who wants to scroll through pictures of somebody else\’s face 24/7 especially if they\’re a stranger.

Thanks for reading! Feel free to comment some more reasons below, I\’d love to hear them 🙂

Surviving ONLINE school!

Heya,

Sorry I haven\’t posted in a while! I hope your all staying safe, as always! 🙂 Today\’s blog is about how to survive virtual school. So a lot of us right now are having online lessons due to isolation and social distancing, which can be a good and bad thing, though we\’re still being productive, learning and getting work done, I can\’t be the only child who gets easily bored and distracted sitting at a computer or phone screen 5 hours a day, 5 days a week. So, I\’m here with some advice on how to get through your lessons! (Also, actually taking part in your lesson is a good way to keep focused!)

1) Stay focused as long as humanly possible. Ok, although the average attention span in 7 seconds, (and I WISH our lessons were that short sometimes -imagine!) It is VERY tempting to open a new tab and listen to your favourite music, scroll through Instagram… But do your best, -just getting through a lesson NOT opening Instagram for the whole time is an achievement!

2) Use your breaks for… actual breaks! When you get time off, turn off your screens and just take it easy for a bit. Personally, I grab a snack from the fridge, put my phone on charge and head upstairs to relax, I re-do my hair, a little bit of exercise, and read a book or practise my keyboard/guitar. Since your online a LOT, it\’s best to have an actual break and not do something \”Virtually\” So find your own way to unwind for a bit! -Breaks ARE there for a reason! Once your back to lessons, you should feel just a LITTLE bit more energized. At least until you find it\’s your least favourite lesson next. *Groan*

3) Get some SLEEP! Ah, my favourite word. If you, like me, need to be up by 8:40 for your first lesson, then sleep is JUST what the doctor ordered. You don\’t want to go through your day grumpy, annoyed and sleep-deprived. Trust me! (It makes point 1 almost impossible!!) I know most people stay up till 1AM, (At least!) I highly recommend getting a decent nights sleep before online school

4) If you don\’t want to talk, listen! -You don\’t HAVE to answer every question right off the bat, but remember that online school is JUST as important as offline school, so even if you don\’t want to talk, at least do tip number one? -Just remember that you don\’t have to speak if you don\’t want to, -there IS a chat function too 🙂 so do whatever you feel means that you are involved in the lesson, even if that is just typing a single response every now and then, or even braving unmuting for a second.

And that\’s all for now! I hope they were helpful-ish! Stay safe, everyone! x -I\’d love to hear your experiences in the comments below 🙂 Online school is rough, repetitive but it can also be helpful and a teeny bit fun! Do you have any tips? Let me know!

Bye for now,

infinite xoxo
